Hi

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before but I didn't find much with the search... So what is the minimum cpu needed to decode high definition video... Would a 2.6Ghz AMD X2 be ok?

Thanks

for a blue ray movie, I wouldn't think so -will be dropping frames!

it would be ok for h264 etc in .mkv's using core avc but with an actual bluray disc you will need some hardware decoding

and the processor. dont forget that OP lol ^^^

on that subject, whats the least you can get away with using the 780g?

well when thsi chiptset come out tomshardware done big guide on it and t hey had a blue ray copy of casino royale playing perfectly at 1080p with a amd semperon3200 lol with an averagoe 65% cpu load how ever it did take several mins to get vista loaded lol

anyway this is alil chart of some amd cpus run on that chipset they made.
