I am using the Be Quiet, PP L7 530W, and i'm just wondering if it will be enough to run a gtx 580, i5, 1 hdd and a dvd drive. I don't plan on overclocking anything yet, just BF3 and rift will be the games i use on it.

would that psu be enuff, or fail/dmg it...

I very much doubt a 530W will run a GTX580 with an i5 processor.

Get a 600/650W to be on the VERY safe side:

BeQuiet PSU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-051-BQ&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1083

Both support 80 plus technology so you know your getting the power you need, and that heat and electricity is not being wasted hence increasing your electricity bill.

Anyone of these will do nicely.

No point in a 750W if you ask me! He isn't going to overclock and there is no Sli involved, so a 650W will do just fine. PLUS the cheaper BeQuiet 650W is "80 Plus Gold". Which is better, yes?

I agree with Lemin's suggestion.
its not needed, but its nearly the same price as the corsair you suggested, plus the Lepa is modular too.
