Minimum size monitor to comfortably run 1920x1080?

I have a 19" monitor for my PC that only runs 1366x768 as the native/max resolution. Needless to say, things look a little blocky at times at this resolution and I want to upgrade my screen.

The area where the screen sits on my desk isn't that big and I don't have much leeway for too much of a bigger screen than the one I have (though I can "modify" my desk and extend the monitor area slightly)

Anyway I ideally want a 1920x1080 HD monitor, and I have seen some 21.5" monitors that apparently support this resolution, but I am guessing the text would be very hard to read at 1080p on a screen of that size? I don't know for sure, because I've never seen one in action (I went into Currys the other day and they had one on display, but rather than showing it in Windows so I could gauge what it would be like, there was some naff full screen demo going on)

My question is really, what is the minimum size of display you'd recommend to display 1920x1080 for comfortable reading/viewing? Are there any decent alternatives between 1366x768 that I run and 1920x1080 displays?

Thanks for any advice

I think 21.5" is about the comfortable limit for 1080 res personally. They do make some smaller panels in sizes like 19.5" and 20" with the same res but you're getting in to very small pixel pitches then. 24" is fine for 1080 although I find it a little big now given the regular use of 27" 1440p models

Used a 22" 1080p in the past and never once considered it uncomfortable to read. Nice and sharp for the size really.
