What is the minimum spec Intel processor I can use to record off TV and for playing popcap games and MAME / emulated games etc? was looking at E5200 but was curious if anyone has got by using a lower spec CPU.

Well Im using an E1400 and can run COD4 at around 90fps and GRID at around 40fps on max settings at 1680x1050... though it is overclocked a ridiculous amount to 3.4GHz. And its still a bit useless at multitasking lol

For what you want, it would probably be fine though... though to be honest, the extra £10 or so for an E5200 would make it a lot easier for you and last a bit longer :)

As, Ducky Spud, has already said the E5200 is worth the extra - and if you shop around you can get it at a great price. You can even do a gentle overclock using stock cooling (say 3Ghz) so it's win a win chip.

Thanks for that - will get the E5200 then, have never tried overclocking - I prefer to let it do its job without interfering. Probably because I'll end up causing damage to my system.
