So just before Christmas I caught the mining bug, started mining on my 2x780Ti gaming rig and it was intriguing so I decided to expand.
I had been following Wndsr's build here so used his shopping list to do my own shopping, added some cheap 1600 mhz ram and off we went.
Bits all arrived between Christmas and new years and I put it all together using the OC bracket that came with my Z87X-OC as an open air bench. (didnt take any pics of this unfortunatly.) Problems arose when I got my 1000w Silverstone PSU back from my brother and plugged it all together, turned it on and nothing happened until a horrid smell started emanating from the PSU.
So at this point I dropped the 1000w and connected up a 550w PSU I had laying around installed windows and we were off! Unfortunately the 550w wasn't up to the job and I had to resort to only running a single card for the time being.

That night having got the single card going MoonCoin was released, I had been watching the short development and hype as it build and jumped straight onto mooncoinpool.com as soon as it went live. With all my hardware running flat out I was getting about 2100Khash and managed to amass a nice pile of mooncoins. The next day they hit coinex.pw and I sold about half and held the rest.

After cashing in the bitcoins I had earned It was time to go shopping, I resolved the PSU issue with a nice Silverstone Zeus 1350w in the this week only deals and decided while I was shopping to add a further 2 280x bring my total to 4. I then purchased some PCI 1x to 16x riser cables and got to work on building a frame to house this beast.

Unfortunately for you guys I was kinda rushing to get this done so didn't take any progress pictures but if you have an questions I will try my best to answer them.

So here is the finished article well apart from an IEC lead because the PSU box was missing one, not to worry I'm picking one up tonight.

looks good.

this mining thing seems really good.

i have a single 280x is it worth having a go with that? is it easy enough to do? most importantly can i make any money doing it? based on cost of electricity etc.

Looks great!

What size aluminium tubing did you use? and where did you get the connector blocks from?
I've made one from aluminium angle, but the blocks would make producing more a lot easier.

Thanks Allnamestaken!

Thanks Joelk2, in regards to mining on a single 280x, yes it can be profitable, depends on the power usage of your rig and the price of power where you are.
A single 280x should get somewhere between 650-750 depending on how good a clocker you get and how well optimized it is, mine are all running 710-730 with a little bit of playing.
You can look at an estimated profit when mining different coins on www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency I feel it's best to go for something reasonably high but never the very top few as they tend to only just up to the top for a very short period due to a spike in trading or a short term drop in difficulty and wont stay profitable for when you come to sell.

But take a look at that and figure out your power usage, if you already have the card and aren't trying to cover it's cost there is definitely some money to be made if you're careful and figure it all out.

To be honest I bought the tubing (20mm) and the connectors from B&Q it cost a fortune because I was in a rush to try and get it ready in time for my two extra cards arriving the next day.
I have since found out about Aluminium Warehouse's Easy Fix range which you can see here which includes the tubing, in colours if you so desire for slightly more and the corner pieces, you can even have them cut the tubing to size for you. Thanks to Chimpboydotnet for this!
And this option works out considerably cheaper and easier than cutting it yourself and purchasing from B&Q, about £80 V £20-£30.
Will definitely go for this option if I decide to put together another rig.

What are you mining and whats the output?

I was mining Mooncoin but since it's dropped down to .00000001 its not anywhere near as profitable so I have just moved to Worldcoin.
I'm sitting at between 2800-2900Khash and on Mooncoin I made about £20 in a 24 hour period when I was able to sell at .00000003.
