Mining rig for £1500-2000?

Hey there folks,

Looking to invest into a mining rig for approximately 1500-2000. Could I get your fine folks help on this endeavour? Preferably open air.

Would it be wiser to max out on the 270s or go for the 290s etc. I'd very much appreciate the assistance!

Thoughts? That'd come out to be approximately 2.4k/hash. Any other ideas and suggestions? Looking at going the BAMT route rather than windows route too.
 
Probably not worth it; GPU mining is almost pointless now, with the number of dedicated boxes around. For the same money you can get 20GH/s with a Butterfly or similar.

This would be the case for Bitcoin /SHA256 mining but Scrypt as far as I was aware is currently fine to mine with GPU.
 
Yeah, that's I think the general consensus - looks like Bitcoin is going down the swanny for the time being anyway lol
 
4 x 280x, 1 x 1200W PSU, and you're set for 3MH/s

Should keep it under budget easily and allows room for expansion with more cards and another psu. Better value than 4 290X too. And scrypt mining is still very profitable, despite the dip in BTC value.

E: you could actually afford 6 280X and 2 x 850W psus in your budget, which would take you to roughly 4.5MH/s, which currently nets around $900/month

1200W would cover 4x280x?
