Woohoo!
My 5820k just arrived!!
There's ever so slight creasing/crumple marks on the box (the CPU box, not the Overclockers delivery box). The CPU itself seems fine. I can't try it out until the rest of my gear arrives next week.
The box damage really is minor, so I guess things'll be fine won't they?
Won't they?!

Any other thoughts on this?
I recall reading on this forum somewhere that CPUs are pretty robust.

To be honest I really probably am being unnecessarily alarmist - the box damage is pretty minimal. I guess I'm just wanting some reassurance! :)

It should be fine. Just to give you an idea of how robust they are. I have an old p4 cpu that I use as a demo in school. I got the kids to put it together one day and it fired up just fine. 9 year old cpu, tossed about and fiddled around for years and it was perfect. Don't fret it :)

It'd have to be crushed flat enough for the pins to bend to harm the CPU I should think - so basically unless one corner is paper thin, there was never enough pressure to do so :)

And there aren't any pins on those anyway. Chances are you could literally throw the bare CPU alone around a room several times and there'd be no damage to it. It'll be fine, even if the box was totally mangled and the CPU still looked ok it'd still most likely be fine.

CPU's are very resilient. This is what my 4790K box looked like when I had it.
