minor PC-7+ mod question

Basically, I love my new lian li pc-7+ insilver, real nice case, damn glad I went for it in the end. The only thing that really puts me off about it is the green and orange power and HDD leds. Basically, I want to replace them with light blue ones, so what kind of leds do I need, what tools do I need, and what else do I have to do?

this will be my first case mod, so help will be greatly appreciated.
 
seen it, but was wondering about more specific things, like what LEDs are safe to use, where i can get them from, what is "heat shrink wrap", what tools I need, that sort of thing. [/noob]
 
You have to make sure the power source matches the power requirement of the LED, otherwise you will have to use resistors to match it. So say you are running the LEDs off 12v, then you will have to either have one 12v LED, two 6volt LEDs in parallel or one 6v LED and a resistor. You can get LEDs from most electrical stores, or possibly some DIY stores. Heat shrink wrap is also called heat shrink tubing and is plastic tubing that shrinks when exposed to heat(Clever eh. ;) ) This allows you to sheathe and protect any bare wire left over after soldering. The tools that you need are some pliers or wire cutters, soldering iron and some solder.

Just wondering if anyone knows what size and voltage the LED's in *** front of the PC7+ are?

I'm going to replace mine with the same ones that i will be using in my upcoming vantec nexus 205, and matching my new ccfl's :D
Don't suppose anyone knows what size LED's are used in the nexus either, as il probably have to examine them then sort out replacement LED's.

Its easy to do, took me about 10 mins. You need something to hold the LED in place while you solder unless you have 4 arms. Also some heatshrink is a good thing to have for things like this but you could also use some insulation tape or similar. I got my LEDs from ebay for like a quid odd and they were delivered next day well packed, its great for little things like that :) .

But beware, after you have done this it wont ever stop, youll be casting your eye over all your goods and be thinking about changing the LED :D . Im currently thinking of painting my monitor black and having a red or blue led in it :cool: . Its just the risk of death putting me off at the moment and being bothered to get off my ass :o .

Im thinking about modifying my eyes with LED's now as im sure they will bring some improvement :D
