Right the title says it.
Had it for a while but just noticed it again recently whilst playing Gears of War.

Every so often ill get a very subtle stutter, as if its just missed a frame or two.

Googling is useless, all i get is other forums telling others there rig aint up to the job. Which probably is true but i know my rig can handle almost everything.
Tbh im not really sure were to start looking.

Ive tried everything on lowest resolution etc, and this just becomes a hell of a lot more noticable.

Also just to add, this isnt caused by a sudden drop in fps as in most games i have a static 60 fps with v-sync.

Cheers in advance.

Its a known thing with Gears of War, its where it streams in the next part of the level which causes the game to hitch briefly. There was a lot of fuss about it when the game came out but nothing was ever said or done about it by Epic, its sadly something you just have to live with :(.

Well i defintely have it in general, farcry 2 does it and notice it occasionally in cod4, but my fps is so high its torerable.

No one ever suffered from this?

Its like mouse lag all over again!

Have you allways had this problem? or have you recently got a new monitor

I used to have 19" lcd but recently upgraded to 21" widescreen and started to have above problem went back to 19" lcd and no problems at all

I think the first time i noticed this was in feb so a while, although ive just been playing WoW and cd4 lately which dont seem to show it too much.

And i got my 22" last november so its really hard to say.

Although the only massively intensive games ive had up until recently were farcry crysis and fallout.

Like i said it doesnt seem to be my hardware under too much strain etc, but im cofused to what it is! I can run most games with very high fps but this still happens.

Are you using a wireless mouse and keyboard?

My brother complained of, what he called, stuttering in FPS games and it turned out to be the wireless KB and mouse he was using. Switched to wired and solved.

Does your hard drive have a small cache or does it need defragging.

I know Crysis Warhead and GOW stuttered for me. With GOW it was the game but Crysis Warhead performed much better when I upgraded my HDD to the WD Velociraptor.

Not saying that stuttering doesn't occur but I've read more about this with regard to ATi gpu's though having owned loads of them I have yet to experience it. Smooth as butter. Never saw it on Gears of War or any game.

Have you tried going on to ATi forums? Worth a look maybe.

Nope using a crappy generic tesco keyboard which is awesome btw and a razer copperhead.

My HDD is ok at the moment, it has 16mb cache, always been a thought if it was my HDD..16mb enough?

I thought about upgrading to 2x Samsung f1's in raid 0.
Dont really wanna spend cash if i dont need to though.

DOnt think my HDD needs defragging just did it the other week. And i dont download much stuff nor install new things, its been cod4, cod4 and more cod4 lately :D

I have heard of sound drivers possibly conflicting with things and causing this although all drivers i found seems to want to install.

Edit: Sorry havnt updated my Sig. yet, i have a gtx275 now, and yes my games did improve a hell of a lot, very smooth. But now its just very subtle, still playable, just irritating

The real problem is that it could be so many things, from programs running in the background, services, graphics drivers, audio drivers, Hard drive issues, windows issues etc etc etc. This sort of thing drives me absolutely mad - id wipe my hard drive and start from scratch following the tweak guides, but i doubt they have one for windows 7 :0

I think im gonna try and update all my drivers etc, im not prepared to install everything again, 4 days off after today, i actually wanna play some games :D

Anyone know of some tool that can maybe do a test etc? to measure my actualy frame latency or what not and i can compare with different drivers? Something like the link you posted.

With Far Cry 2, do you run it in DX10 mode ? Whenever i ran it in DX10, it would have some horrible kind of frame skipping. DX10 had a real nice boost in FPS, but the frame skipping killed it, so i went back to a buttery smooth DX9.

Yea i generally run in dx10, never really had a problem with it minus except for mouse lag.

bac on its realse date i did play it for abit, and never complained about any frame skips etc, unless i just didnt notice it, im not sure.
