I'm running the Mate version of Mint 13, and I'm connected to my LG 32" TV, but the display isn't correct.

The top and bottom bars are not displayed correctly. Does this mean it's not broadcasting in 1080? I'm too stupid to work it out. It's certainly selected full high definition in the monitor options. However, I have noticed that it thinks I have a 52" LG.

Some guidance would be very much appreciated. I am using onboard graphics from my Gigabyte Z77-D3H which is nursing a 3570k.

Cheers.

what is the native resolution of your tv? (or post exact model number so we can look it up)
what resolution is the "Displays" application showing you are set to?
have you installed any drivers yourself or are you just running with the one that came installed?
what graphics chipset does your mb have? intel? amd? nvidia?
how are you connecting? VGA? HDMI? DVI?
does your tv have a "just scan", dot-for dot" or "overscan" settings in its menu?

I was just in the process of writing a detailed reply back, and then I got to the last point...

TV was set to 16:9 - changed it to scan and it works.

Many thanks for the solution masterluke!
