Hi All,

Now, are Mintex any good?

I ask on one forum, and get 50% saying they are the best ever and the other 50% saying they are useless.

I know Paradigm had a set and hated them, but has anyone else used them? I'm still trying to decide which discs to go for!

Thanks all

EDIT: They'll be used with EBC Greenstuff pads btw...

I know Tom loved his Mintex Xtreme pads on his Mondy. Not sure on the discs though.

Heard a few bad things about EBC Greenstuff pads. Probably best getting some Ferrodo DS5200. Heard lots of good things about them.

They're ok. I found them no better than stock discs (although that may be because the stock discs are actually manufactured by Mintex.

EDIT: The Mintex Xtreme pads are meant to be very good though.

Well I've got the pads sitting right next to me...soo I'm gonna use those...they love them on the MG forums so I thought I'll give them a bash!

but they also love MG's so don't trust their opinions :D

you have the pads so no point telling you if they are good or bad, all I can say is mintex discs won't have much of a difference to standard

Check out brembo, black diamond or tarox if you want an upgrade

Don't you mean DS2500 ;) I have these and can definately vouch for there performance cold bite is a bit weak but that soon disappears after you brake the first time. In use they are amazing dusty as hell though.

Sod it. I've gone for EBC Ultimax the best ever w1nnar brakes. And then EBC Turbos for the rear.

Now the wait begins :p

I've got mintex pads and discs on the xantia. No problems here but of course I dont really go ragging it around A roads (that often). No qualms with the quality with regards to fitting them or stopping performance for normal road driving. They haven't warped straight away either unlike so cruddy discs I've bought in the past.

Mine have had quite the opposite life, a trackday, and a lot of harsh late braking. I've found (with redstuffs), that fade is much reduced over the OEM setup for me, and that the feel when they bite is much more solid.

Overall, they have been just what I was looking for.

It's too late now, but I can recommend CRN for customer service and excellent prices.

Just fitted a pair of grooved front discs to my CTR that came from them for £80 inc. delivery.

I have Mintex 1155 pads. The stopping is great, but they squeal like crazy if you brake gently (some kind of hint no doubt) and they give off more dust than spring cleaning a garage.

Seconded. Prior to fitting custom Wilwoods all round I was using Mintex 1155's and 1416's. Squeel did occur from time to time, regardless of disc type (standard and cross drilled/grooved) and were very dusty. They do the all-important job of stopping extremely well though which is what is most important. I am also a fan of EBC Greenstuff pads. Used them on my previous 2 scoobs with cross drilled/grooved discs and couldn't fault them at all.
