Hi guys,

somehow I've managed to get this really annoying piece of spyware called 'mirar' on my computer. It comes up as a toolbar in IE (luckily i use FF) and when i try to remove it via add/remove, it just pops a webpage to some dodgy website.

I've ran Ad-Aware, Avast and CCleaner which picked up some things, but this hasn't got rid of this. I'm running spybot now, but no luck so far.

Avast keeps popping up warning messages with various .dll files saying they're part of trojans etc. It also blocks some dodgy 'antivirus' websites.

Any ideas how to remove it?

Does Avast not detect this mirar at all? Have you tried running Avast in safe mode? Thats what I did to remove a bit of spyware that kept opening iexplorers by itself and inturn using up about 60% CPU useage. Avast removed them but they returned when I did this in normal boot mode but seemed to solve the problem once I did it in safe mode.

However if its not even detecting the desired spyware in question then you could try HiJackthis like shadow said. Using the program, export the text to your desktop and then load up http://www.hijackthis.de/. Insert the file in there. Or you can simply copy and paste the log manually if you want. Read the information on each red X carefully. Some files might just be harmless and shouldn't be worried about.

Thats the only things I can think of sorry

Thanks for the advice Medley. Through a combination of Ad-Aware, Spybot, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and HijackThis I'm not spyware free. God knows how I got it in the first place, but I'm free of it now.

Thanks for the help and advice :)

In case this comes up in a search, I've found Superantispyware to be good at removing spyware. Most spyware comes with several hooks and unless the software gets them all out, the spyware gets all it's hooks back in. It's free - although it'll try and sell you the pro version. I wouldn't run it 24/7 though.
