Hi all,

Hypothetically speaking for now (to avoid the usual silliness I attract :p) if I were to have a fun car, and a sensible car, I would want to go with an insurer who mirrors no claims discount, i.e who will apply my two (almost three) years no claims bonus to both cars on the policy - otherwise I would end up with a fun car that costs me £700 - £1000 to insure with 2 years no claims, but the sensible car would have zero no claims and end up costing even more than that again!

The cars will never be driven at the same time, but they will both have one named driver, which leaves it open to the interpretation (from the insurance company) that they might both end up being driven at once.

I know Adrian Flux do this, but I've heard mixed things about them recently..?

Any others worth a shot? :)

Lets say for the sake of an example, that the two cars are an S2000 and a Golf Estate TDI (they're not), the S2000 would have around 8,000 miles per year on it, and the Golf would have 20,000 miles per year on it, the S2000 would be for social domesic & pleasure and occasional commuting, the Golf would be mainly for commuting and business.

Admiral group did this for me in the past.

On their website I can't see this option, just a multicar discount which is rubbish. I'm guessing you had to phone them up and discuss it..? Will some insurers give this sort of cover if you discuss it with them, even if it isn't advertised..? :)

Yeah just give them a call and ask about it - good idea to have run a quote for the other (in your case fun) car in advance so you know what it "should" cost if they mirror your ncb

I've had it done a couple of times, Admiral did it for me first but would only mirror 2 years i think. I had 5 years NCB and wanted a fun and boring car so i used the 5 years on the new fun car and the 'new' 2 on the boring car.

I've not come across any insurer that actually advertises that they do this it's always been a phone call to them.

OK cool thanks, I'll ring around on Saturday, starting with Aviva - who I'm already with! :)

LV do it, matched my NC on my second car, two policies matching full NC on the second car/policy.

Yes, I had to phone them - I think it's down to their discretion really.

Swift did it for me last year. Had an Octavia wit them on 7 years NCD, then they added the S2000 with its own 7 years mirrored over.

Now I have 2 sets of 8 years.

Admiral did it for my old man, as long as nobody under 30 was an additional driver on the policy.

My God diesels are ridiculously expensive to insure for me... The cheapest ones (Including little shopping carts) are a Saab 9-5 2.2D, Volvo V40 1.9D, Volvo S40 1.9D, and Skoda Octavia 1.9D, and they are all in the £85~ per month region! Thats the same as the T-Sport!

Hastings are funny about what cars you want to insure.

Cheap, but picky as I had to cancel with Hastings premier and go with Admiral.

Thankfully mine were ok :)

I'm paying around £190 for my Mazda 6 2L and £220 for my 350z with Hastings

Though the cheeky ******** put the renewal quote up quite a bit, so I did another comparison site and they came out on top with the prices above!

So I rang them and told them, and the lady says "Oh, I'll check but we should be able to match that"....really?? It's your bloody quote! :D

The other good thing, I dont know if everyone does this, but after 1 year the mirrored NCD is now real, at the full amount, so I can now split my insurance and go anywhere if I wanted

Exactly the same thing happened to me with hastings - normally I'd have no qualms about cancelling and going with the cheapest on comparison sites, but they WERE the cheapest!

Just to conclude the thread, Admiral mirrored my NCD across two cars, even with the understanding that they may both be driven at the same time in exceptional circumstances. :)

(I have one named driver)
