I`ve just noticed that on the shop site when you look at the Geforce 8800 GTX`s theres a message at the bottom saying you have to have a motherboard which has duel x16 sli (ie 680i chipset). This is not true! There are many reviews of Geforce 8800 GTX`s in sli on 650i chipset boards which only has duel x8 sli and it performs the same.Maybe this is to trick people into buying the more expensive duel x16 sli boards and not the cheaper duel x8 sli ones.

It's what Nvidia specified, not the shop. Take a look at Nvidia's website to see the requirements for the 8800 GTX and you will see.

Yeah we all know its wrong, but thats a Nvidia issue, nothing to do with OcUK, or any other etailor as they all say that, its how Nvidia want it advertised.

It is there to tell people that if they intend to get max performance out of their gpu(s), to use 16x speed x16 slots and no lower, yes it works in lower speeds but you get large performance drops and sli is much less efficient.

its dual, not duel, a duel is like a battle between two people or something of a similar nature, dual means two  sorry in advance, im a perfectionist i have been told. yes there correct its NVIDIAs problem, not OCUK, there just writing what NVIDIA have told them to right basically :p

LMAO you said you're a perfectionist, then you have a typo in the same post - it should be "they're correct" :D

you've actually read it, right?
Also the cards require PCI-E x16 slots, they will not function in a x8 slot so for SLi you need dual x16 mainboard.
they will NOT function?

Sorry for the spelling! :D Just to say even if it is Nvidia telling them to do it it is still false advertising. Not only do they work but it is just as fast.Who ever is doing it it is still liaing to get more money off us. I love Overclockers!Don`t think I`m just having a go! :) It got me worried for a mintue as I just got a 650i motherboard for two Geforce 8800GTX but checked with reviews for the motherboard and it`s all OK. :D

I think you may need to the use the following :

It's
I'm
I
they're
it's
they're
write
.

to replace some of the above to reach perfectionist status.

One typo? I wish.

I count four missing capitals, four missing apostrophes, "there" instead of "they're" twice, "right" instead of "write" and copious commas where there should be full stops and new sentences.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

It's not false advertising as such. It's more Nvidia's way of saying that they do not support the cards running in x8 slots..

Because I can finally use it!

:D

(No - not you Chris ;) )

Those COD benchies are pretty impressive, especially as that's with the GTS!
