Mismatched ram latency

Hey guys

Ive got 4 sticks of corsair vengance ram.

2 x 4gig sticks with latency of 9-9-9-24
2x 4gig sticks with latency 8-8-8-24

Would this mismatch of latency cause my system to randomly freeze?

As its been doing it every few days.

Cheers

Andy

yh could do

what board/cpu are you using? and how much dram and vccio or cpu/vtt if its a gigabyte board

I would manually set the timings to 9-9-9-24-2t and 1.55 dram and 1.08v vccio

then see if the freezing stops

no idea something something in out?

its for the integrated memory controller inside the cpu,the more ram you have and the tighter the timings usually means it needs one or two clicks more than stock 1.05v

it could simply be the timings and dram voltage, idk unless you try and test them ect

Super mate thank you, I shall go fiddle and test and do some more research :)

Your help is much appreciated :)

Cheers!

Ok so i upped the values and thought I had solved the issue with your help :)

Unfortunately it froze again but this time I got the CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT error.

Any idea how to solve this issue? Looking it up it says it could be a cpu/bios or hard drie issue????

Cheers guys

what voltages did you try? did you set all the timings the same?

try with 1.08v vccio and 1.55v dram voltage

Thats what they are set at already from my last attempt and timings are the same. Ive actaully dropped down to 2 x 4 gig sticks rather than the 16 and still get the freeze. Starting to suspect faulty board??

Any other ideas?

Cheers

try with 1.6v dram and stock 1.05v vccio

are you using the latest motherboard bios? I would update if your arnt

Hiya

Yes Im running the latest bios, using volts as suggested. I replaced the power supply the other day and ran for 4 days without a freeze. It is possible that my win8 image I made is damaged through corruption due to having unstable power?? I was using a 4 year old enermax galaxy 850w psu.

Im now back on windows 7 and Ive been running Prime 95 for 10 hours, no issues what so ever. Any suggestions as to how long I should run it for?

Ive also pulled my 2tb toshiba hdd and the xonar ds sound card. Next step is to re introduce them one at a time and see if I freeze again. Any further ideas? Ive also RMA'd 2 sticks of ram as memtest came back with errors. The new pair of ram sticks Im using tested fine.

Cheers and Im sorry this is moving in various directions now.....

If I were you and wanted to eliminate any possibilities, I'd reinstall Windows then do a Prime95. If stable, introduce the HD and soundcard one at a time, each time doing a Prime95 test.
