Misread RAM/Motherboard compatibility...

Hi,

I've been gradually putting parts of a new build together & due to misreading what version of Ram I'd purchased I've seen that its not on the QVL, potentially how much of a problem is this?

Would it be better to try and sell the RAM & get one that is compatible (luckily the RAM is still unopened)?

The RAM is Kingston HyperX Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (KHX16C10B1BK2/16X)

& the pre planned motherboard is the Sabertooth 990FX rev2 (or the Gen3 if it is out by the end of the month).

That should work. I have the Sabertooth 990FX rev 2.0 and I run 2 x 4Gb 12800CL9 G-Skill Ripjaw memory @1600MHz. I will be getting 16gb at some point. Report back, tell us how they run.

They will work.. If it's a DDR3 motherboard with DDR3 ram, that's all you have to worry about. The QVL is what's been tested in the labs and that's about it.

You may have to set the RAM to XMP to run at 1600MHz in the BIOS/EFI though but this is pretty standard. just in case you are worried when it says 1333Mhz :)
