Misses wants a new car

My better half wants to buy a car in the uk. She has £20k to spend.

Requirement:
Must be new (yes I know its wrong but that’s the way it is )
4/5 door
Not too big.
She normally drives a very fast merc so wants this one to have a bit of power
Good motorway carouser

I suggested an A3 or a golf GTI.

it has to be new, I do like the CLK (my dad had one) however 20k will not get a new one and she needs a 4 door.

We are going to book her in for a test drive of the new GTI.

EDIT: Just looked and i'm finding it hard to come up with anything brand new for 20k, short of Golf GTI, Focus ST, Seat Leon Cupra.

For new she can't look in Mercedes or BMW area.

I'm sure you know this already but she could get SO much more with 20k if she got a 1 year old car or summit.

I guess your real only choices are Focus, Golf, Seat leon cupra or maybe an Impreza? Can't think of many more?

Yes I know but there is no way she will consider that, she is buying it because she uses her paretns S class as a town runner a the moment.

If you want a little more space you can get an Octavia vRS with all the trimmings, can get them at £15.5k now!

You can also now just get the RX-8 231ps for £20k at brokers.

Yah i know but this came in quite over budget. Ah well she will just have to drive my car or her parents car when she wants something a bit faster

Yep but it was too small for her, she dive S-class at the moment
