I'll start by saying I don't really do any gaming, I'm just using my computer for general office software (nothing too taxing).
Many years ago I decided to delve into buying a wireless keyboard and mouse for the first time. I went with a Microsoft kb and mouse set. I think it was this:
It was good most of the time but I noticed that frequently keystrokes were missed and the mouse occasionally stuttered. Could have been a million reasons for this but I got annoyed enough to switch back to wired variants. All was fine for many years and I went through various PC replacements etc.
My current PC is about 3 years old (it has a 4th generation Intel i-5 quad core processor, 8GB RAM). It's running Windows 10 and is still running all my general office software perfectly fine. I was using a dell wired mouse and a wired Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. Again, all was fine.
In a moment of impulse and wanting to reduce my cabling, I thought I'd go with a wireless solution so I quickly purchased a wireless Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard and the associated MS wireless mouse. Basically this:
However, I noticed that often I get the same issue as before. Keystrokes would sometimes go missing and the mouse would lag/stutter. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's like there are sometimes bad periods which may last 30 seconds and after that all is okay again. It's been a long time but it feels suspiciously exactly like my previous wireless experience. However, there's 0% in common (except the user lol) with that previous setup. PC has changed, software has changed, OS has changed and keyboard/mouse has changed.
Are these issues fairly common? Is it caused by when the PC is busy doing some background processing or is this wireless interference from all the numerous wireless devices a modern home office has?
Quite frankly it is getting very annoying and I'm thinking of going back to a wired solution just to avoid the lag and keystrokes. Ironically I was expecting it to have happened while I was composing this post but it hasn't happened. But it definitely does and it gets far too annoying.
Thoughts?
TIA
