I have loads of mp3s on my machine that have Album Art embedded in the individual files. These all display Artwork correctly in iTunes. However, when browsing folders in Finder some files show the artwork whilst others display the default icon (Black background with a grey musical note). If I press "Space" to Quick Look the file I still see the wrong icon. If the file is played in iTunes then the correct Artwork shows.
The files missing the artwork in Finder follow no particular pattern, most albums have 2 or 3 files showing artwork and the rest with default icons, even though all the files have the correct artwork (verified in iTunes and in XP machines).
I have had this before and I am sure I deleted a plist file or something like that that made Finder "rebuild" all the preview icons, I just can't recall exactly what I did. I have repaired permissions and deleted /iTunes/Artwork/Cache, to no avail.
Edit: After some closer inspection it seems any tracks added to iTunes show the correct icon in Finder, any not in iTunes show the default icon.
Edit2: A picture speaks a thousand words:
Edit3 http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2464851&start=0&tstart=0 Seems the problem has happened to other people as well since upgrading to iTunes 9.2
