I see a lot of threads of people getting better FPS on mantle. However, it's never the case on my 280x and now with my 290x I still get the same, Random drops of FPS, Computer slowing down while loading maps/When FPS drops the entire computer slows.

No problems on DX11, But mantle makes it run so badly its unreal, Using 14.3 drivers too.

You're not the only one, I recently tested Battlefield 4 on my 280x and there was nothing there that made me go wow mantle, if anything it was slower and slightly stuttery.

DX11 is great but without the hyped up frame rate increases :p

When you load the map bring up the console and type RenderDevice.FramePacingMethod 0 and hit enter. Does that improve things?

Also try alt tabbing out and shutting down your browser once loaded into the map.

When you say random drops of fps, do you mean there is like a 1 second pause every 10 minutes or so? Because i get that and its a stall bug that dice are working on fixing.

Well, Interesting.

Doing RenderDevice.FramePacingMethod 0 and closing the browser seem to have made it far more stable than it was before.

Also does anyone have the Asus 290x?

Cause when I switch the bios button I find my computer refuses to start right, Wont display until I unplug everything and wait. After a bit it comes back to life.

Any ideas?

Why do you want to switch the bios? Leave it alone if the second one causes problems.

Reading the reviews, One setting is for low noise/Downgraded speeds and one is for high noise and maximum power.

I didn't buy a non cheap card to run it at some setting that does not use the cards full power/spec. Also there's no easy way of telling what it's switched too.

Do you have the reference 290X or the AIB 290X?

This isn't very helpful :P

I expect the only difference is fan speed, which you can adjust manually yourself using MSI Afterburner Beta 19, if you wish.

So that button adjusts fan speed only? Why does it cause my computer to fail to boot when I change it? And why do they refer to it as "Bios switcher"
