Missing the days before online activation/connection required!

trying to play half life atm first steam asks me for my password so have to get it reset, and asks the question of [what did steam set your password as lst time] .. ive forgotten it!!

now an update before i can even play, not fun with really slow internet, im beginning to think maybe ive had enough with pc games and will just get myself a console the next time they come out, no faffing with hardware or settings and something that doesnt need upgrading for years

half life is ready to play in 1 second.. thats a long second, its been minutes!

Why do i HAVE to wait for updates to play? grr

You forgot your own steam password is your primary annoyance and them providing updates is your other major gripe?

what? consoles do this too now?

i never knew that, [last console i played was xbox not 360] i guess this is why all these games arent complete on release now.. updates available

its not providing updates that annoys me, just you cant play said game until its updated, all microsoft firefox etc etc allow you to download now install later, why not use this?

i had forgotten my password because its set to remember, for some reason the check box had become unchecked

this wouldnt be a problem if the internet here wasnt so slow!

So the problem is not steam or the games? But your net connection.

Yeah, consoles update pretty much every game and firmware sometimes.

You could just try opening the .exe in the steam folder without activating steam, sometimes works but not all the time.

Right click game in Steam > Properties > Updates > Do not automatically update this game > Cease crying.

I can't find the Cease crying option

I keep having to check the OP date to make sure this is 2011 and not a ressurection from 5 years ago ><

thanks, that solves the problem, ill just update as and when this way

the problem is the net connection here yes, but i cant change that, and it wasnt a problem before games had this DRM i just prefer the old 'everything on the HDD' option, again, i always buy retail, its the only real option for games purchases
