Hi, im hoping some body can help me, as i am confused  to how i am missing video ram. I have a HIS ATI HD5770 1GB and before BF3 came out i checked here www.systemrequirementslab.com to see if my pc is ok, in which it was and my gfx card stated i had 2.7gb of Video ram and 4gb of memory. Now last week, i went from 4gb to 8gb and checked on the same site and this time, my pc is not good enough to play due to having 377mb of video ram, but my memory only went to 7.2gb I put bf3 on straight away and plays fine, so i know there is not a problem there. What i did do is take my old memory out, so i am back to 4gb, gone to the site and i am back to 2.7gb, and did exactly the same with the new one's, same again. put all 8gb back in and im back to 377mb and 7.2gb of ram. Everything on my pc is fine, its just worrying me where this missing memory has gone on both gfx and ram.
thanx

welcome to the forums :)

To answer your question, don't bother with sites like that. They not 100% accurate as you've experienced first hand. As long as Windows shows you have 8GB of RAM and you have the latest Catalyst drivers (11.11a) your fine.

thanks mate, i forgot to put also, that windows does recognise i have 8gb of ram (and i could live with 7.2gig of ram), and i also went to dxdiag, and that said i had 377mb of video memory, yet when i go to windows devices, ive got 1024mb,so i didnt know what to believe haha

Download GPU-Z:http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/

This will tell you all the information you need about your graphics card including the VRAM

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with memory hole remapping. This is where the BIOS moves the MMIO to a higher address to prevent conflicts with the CPU and is activated when more than 4gb of physical RAM is installed.

You may see this option in the BIOS.. Turn it off and on see if it makes any difference. As far as i know, it should be off for x64 systems where >=4GB is installed.
