Mitsubishi Shogun ???

Yesterday i picked up a second hand lpg kit for my shogun - 150quid for the kit with a 70lt tank 70% full, spare inlet manifold, throttle body airflow meter, air filter and brand new set of magnecor leads :D

What pay n play sites do you go to malc? ive been to my local one in silverdale a few times and its great fun - but i never seem to get it as dirty as you get yours - i need try harder :D

How Jealous am i :p I'm keeping me eye out for an LPG kit me mate can chuck on but I'm not to bothered as i don't do many miles theses days, I would take your arm off for one that cheap though.

P&P.
3D4x4 is the closest one as it's about 25 mins from me, It's on the outskirts of Coalville near the motorway bridge & the other one is Sibbertoft, They are doing a Boxing day Bash.
Search Youtube for vids as there are loads.

I've just rang my mates Tyre & Exhaust place & ordered 2 Federal Couragias for the front & I'm getting the Grizzly claws put on the back.
I know nothing about these Couragias & at 70 quid a corner they are pretty budget when it comes to off road tyres but the pattern don't look to bad from what I've seen on the web & they will be brand new so the cubes/chunks/blocks should be good enough, With the Grizzly claws on the back it will be sound i reckon.
I'll take some pics whilst down there.

Found this on the web.
Couragia.

Nowhere near as Blocky as my Grizzly claws but they should be pretty good on the front on the road & still give me what i need off road.

You don't need a prepped 4x4 for P&P, this was my standard Discovery:

I did tear the lower bumper off though, and shredded a tyre!

Well i got my tyres fitted but what a ball ache. Firstly the Couragia tyres were AT not MT but I went with them anyway as it will give me good road presence & they are chunky enough to cope off road with the Grizzlys on the rear. The ball ache started with the shape of the new tyres, They had obviously been on the bottom of a big pile & getting them to inflate on the rim the first time was a nightmare, It took 3 of us kicking, punching, squeezing, swearing etc Then one wouldn't seal so it got took off & on 3 times, The Grizzlys were no problem at all apart from the balancing but all knobblys are hard to balance.
Finally got out of there at 5 to 6 when i got there at 3.45pm, To Dark for pics I'll do that the morrow.
All i need is some snow or mud to test them now, I'm going to the Boxing day bash at Sibbertoft that's for sure I've mailed him to reserve a slot just in case it's busy.

The problem with aggressive MT tyres is that the on-road handling is severely compromised. I ran Insa Sahara MT's for a couple of weeks but they were borderline dangerous in the wet so I swapped to my other rims with Insa Rangers (BFG AT clone). Far better on road and in the recent snow were unstoppable.
For heavy offroading I'll switch back to the MT's, but not for daily driving.

O Yes, I may investigate a decent pipe to hear the V6 roar. :D

Im planning on a decat and removing the rear silencer on mine :D Ditching the cat to try eek out any extra mpg's (going to ditch viscous fan for twin electric one as well) and rear silencer is going to be in the way of the gas install.

I find running on my MTs loses 4-5mpg so only stick them on when needed the rest of the time i roll on ATs.

What size tyres have you gone for?

I've had to compromise to be honest but you'll understand.
I got two Grizzly Claws 235/75/15's for 20 quid  As i'm a bit flush i bought two new tyres but couldn't get Grizzlys as they're out of business now so opted for Federal Couragia, It was my fault that when they were ordered i never specified MT  & AT's turned up. Same size as the Grizzlys 235/75/15's so i thought **** it I'll be sound with the Grizzlys on teh back & the Couragias on the front. As it turns out it's not a bad compromise for now but I will pick up another pair of MT's & AT's so i have 2 full sets to use as i need them.
I went to Leicester down the M69 today & the Hum of the rears can be drowned out by the stereo without being ridiculous & the fronts feel great under braking & turning. Good all rounder at the mo until i pick up the others but I'm happy with how it is for now so i can wait for some cheap rubber to come along.

Shogun Off Road = Crap. :(

Went to a Pay & Play this morning to try out the Shogun off road, Took it easy & had no trouble with the trails & small climbs but it failed badly on a medium climb, Then whilst poodling around i dropped over a rise & some ice gave way & dropped my off side front in a hole, In any other motor I've had it wouldn't have been a problem but the Shogun was stuck fast, I'm no noob either so when i say it was stuck it was stuck. :(
I had to climb out my window & shout a Landy which had a 12 ton winch on the front to pull me out & even though he had a decent winch it still took some getting out.
That was it for me really as I knew i couldn't try any of the decent climbs & with snow & ice covering the whole site I could have spent the day dropping into silly little holes & getting stuck. :o
Don't get me wrong for your every day off road it would be fine but for what i like to do it's Crap. :(
Saving grace was the drive home as it does feel superb to drive on road.
