Ok so the deal is I have some old parts I want to use up so ive got the fractal design array case on order and looking for an appropriate mITX board to go with it. Aim is to build a small file server.

My needs are as follows:
PCI-E x8 minimum to support my raid card Areca Arc 1210.
Socket 775 to use an old core 2 duo i have lying around.
DDR2 to use up my spare ram.

The best ive found so far is the ZOTAC G41ITX-A-E at about roughly £60. Do you reckon I can find anything cheaper or is this the best I can do. Specs of it can be seen here http://www.zotacusa.com/zotac-g41itx-a-e-lga-775-mini-itx-wifi-intel-motherboard.html

i've had the g41 itx from zotac and its a nice solid little board.

the only bad points about it are that you must use the drivers from zotacs site or the install cd for the onboard gfx and that it only has one usb header on the board.

apart from that i would happily recommend that board.

Ok thanks, does that mean i need the graphics drivers available when i install windows then? USB doesnt really matter either as once running i wont have any keyboard, mouse or screen attached. Plan just to remote login to it when i need to play about with it.

any time i let windows 7 install the drivers automatically or installed the ones from intel it resulted in a black screen as soon as it entered windows and i would have to go into safe mode and uninstall them and install the ones from zotacs site or the original install disk and it would be fine again.

i had this exact same problem with a msi h55 board with the i3 onboard gfx also.

think its just windows 7 having issues with it? i was going to be using either server 03 or server 08 on it anyway but thanks for the heads up ill install the disk drivers when installing windows just to be safe.

i think its more intels drivers rather than windows 7, i just got the latest one from zotacs site and they never gave me a problem in any way.
