Hi guys,
I have just bought and fitted some Corsair 2 x 1 gig 3200C2PT CL2 RAM from MM. Its in and works well. I also have 2 x 512MB Geil DDR400 Value Paired RAM too which I was going to use to make my comp up to 3GB but it doesn't seem to like it....it doesn't boot.

I don't know much about RAM but should I be able to do this?

I have never done this myself, but, as far as im aware it can be done, however im possative you are supposed to evenly match it. i now start to think iff you do you are supposed to put it in a specific order starting with smallest. but ive never done it so may be talking tripe

i'm using the DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-D mobo by the way. It's using slot 2 and 4 for the RAM at the mo and I tried putting the 2x512's in slot 1 and 3.
I did also try it the other way round by no joy :(

I've never had a problem mixing RAMs myself but that has mostly been on newer boards, and I know there can be issues. Have you tried using just the 2x512 to see if the mobo likes them by themselves?

yea, originally the 2x512MB sticks were in there but I bought the extra 2x1GB sticks to upgrade. Each works on there own but together it doesn't seem to like it.

Are they difference speeds? It should work still, but will show the lowest speed.
Yeah, does it freeze at boot (loading screen)?

Yea, they are diff. speeds.
I actually have 2 pairs of 2x512's but one is knackered. Trying both though, one doesn't post and the other gives a bios (checksum i think) error and says there is no keyboard attached.

I have done what u did with slightly diff sizes, mine with my 1gb two off, added two off 2gb sticks, but I made sure the timings off the newer sticks were off identical timings and make ie corsair, now on 6gb with vista 64.

hope this helps.
