I currently have 4gb of G.Skill DDR3-16000 ram and I'd like to upgrade to 8gb but I can't find the same type for sale, Would it be possible to install 4gb of different ram.
Could someone recommend me some from ocuk.

In theory you should be able to run them with any other CL7 1.9V RAM, however sometimes motherboards can be picky. Seems there are less 1.9V sticks available new these days though so you'd probably be better off checking the bay or selling your current kit and buying 2 new matching kits...

I've had a lot of trouble with motherboards not running well with four sticks of memory. Usually find it best to replace with a larger matched pair.

Hope you're using a 64bit operating system too ;)

Andi.

I'm using Windows 7 64.
I went from 8gb of ddr2 to 4gb of ddr3 when I made the switch from x48 to p55 and I didn't think there would be much of a difference but I find I do notice a difference.

Running 12GB, Gskill Ripjaws (actually 2 kits of 4GB 2x2gb) and 2x2gb Gskill Trident (originally a tri channel kit until one got stolen by my mates dog, seriously no joke) all running at 7 7 7 18 1.62v with no issue with my 920 @ 4.2Ghz.
