Mixing different brands of RAM?

I purchased a prebuilt PC a little over a year ago and have been slowly upgrading it.
I'm interested in purchasing additional RAM as I'm currently using 8GB and there are a few games that
I'm interested in playing that would benefit from more.

However despite the pc I bought having 8GB of DDR4 RAM it was a cheap korean brand that is
proving impossible to find online. I have an extra slot free suitable for an additional 8GB of RAM but
not being able to find the same kind that was packeged with my PC is proving to be a problem.

I don't really want to throw the 8GB I have already away because my budget is a little tight after upgrading my GPU recently. What do you think I should do?

As long as youre not going for overclocks, it normally is fine to run different sticks together. It'll just default to the slowest speed of the slowest stick of ram

Thanks! Why does it make a difference when overclocking?

And would I be fine just buying any ddr4 RAM then? I'd get no issues with the psu or anything like that?
