I am only wondering...

I have 3 pairs of those Homeplug thingies... They let you plug in Ethernet through the mains... you know what I mean.

Anyway, they all work just fine, with varying levels of awfulness, ranging from dire to seriously slow.

Now, I was only wondering this, but my eldest son is now Modern Warfare 3 Mad and so we have used a pair up to his bedroom for his XBOX, and the other one is down here going to my router. We have used the ones that you get with BT Vision for this. Comtrend or whatever they are ?

The thing is, that I am wondering... Could we also use, say, one of the zyxel ones in another room, possibly for my daughters PC, and then maybe one in the bedroom for say, the NAS Box?

I am thinking that they will either work or they wont, and thats that,

but somethign in my nagging and oh so ignorant brain is tellign me that they will explode if I try it.

The thing is, that I have 6 of these things ( 3 different pairs - Belkin, Zyxel, and Comtrend ) and it seems a shame to waste them.

Well, they are all painfully slow yes!

In terms of true speed?

Well, I think they are about 300 BAUD Speeds and I may be joking, but its not by much!

The best I have managed to my daughters PC was 3 hours to copy a 660MB AVI File for her.

I say 3 hours cos I went shopping, visited my mums ( 18 miles away ) and had dinner there and it was still copying when I got back.

I tried the other 2 pairs and they are about the same..

What speed are those Comtel ones that come with BT Vision?
