Mixing Memory size?

Hi, I have a set of THESE
(2x 2gb ram) and was going to buy a second to make 8gb but then saw THESE for only 8 quid more..

Seems to be exactly the same timings, VDIMM, frequency etc but is it ok to match 4gb sticks with 2gb sticks?

If so would i put a 4 and a 2 together or the 2's in the corresponding slots and the 4's in the corresponding slots or just any random order in the mobo slots?

Or should i just buy the 2X 2gb and make do with 8gb which is probably plenty..?

Cheers,

Curly

It's not a problem to mix the sets - just add the 2 x 4Gb set to the other channel - i.e. keep the matching dual memory sets in the same channels (2x 2gb in one channel and the 2 x 4Gb in the other).

However, if your system is clocked (and not an SB setup) using all the DIMM slots may effect the overclock - so if you do run into problems 8Gb is plenty for general apps use and games or you could reduce the clock slightly if necessary.
