Hi, currently have 4 GB (2*2GB) Corsair XMS2 DHX 4-4-4-12 2.1V in my PC. I wanted to upgrade to 8GB so ordered exactly the same memory again.

Just received it and the retailer (not ocuk) screwed up, they sent me XMS2 Pro 5-5-5-12 1.8V.

Will it work with my old ram since the voltages are different? Presumably the mobo will just run all the ram at 2.1V. Not too fussed about the timing (i.e. running it all at 5-5-5-12) since I doubt it will make a noticeable difference.

Would you return it?

Cheers,
Simon.

the lower voltage probably wouldnt last too long at 2.1v and the 2.1v ram would be unstable at 1.8, if you paid for the 2.1v ram, then send it back and get the right stuff

I think you got to run the 8500 sticks at same timings as the 6400 and the 6400 at the same volts as the 8500.

I would return them.
