Hi,

Am in the process of upgrading at the minute and have just my my Asrock 939 dual mobo along with 2x512's Geil ram. I currently have 2 generic 512's in my pc (Socket A, soon to be 939 with the upgrade) that I was going to put along with the Geil. They are 1x 2700 and 1x3200. I know the Geil will run as dual channel as they are matched, but should I also put the 2 different 512's in as well, and if not, why not?

Thanks in advance.

Well, they should all in run dual mode but you'll have to drop to 2T from 1T assuming that you can get them all running on the same timings.

Obvously you'll also drop to PC2700 speeds if that is not what you are running already.

In summary you'll gain ram capacity with will be good for games like Battle Field 2, but you'll probably lose a bit of processing speed with will hurt games like Civilization 4.

Cheers for the reply. I rarely play games, mainly use the PC for dvd authoring, converting MiniDvd camcorder stuff, so would the 4x512's running at 2700 be better than 2x512's at 3200?
