Mixing PWM fans on splitter

Gt a myriad of PWM fans here ranging from 1200 rpm alpenfohn red clovers, 1500 rpm wingboosts and 1900 rpm akasa piranhas. Ideally im going for a red/black theme hence the majority are clover models. Thing is i need to get a few more. Ill be running 2 fans on my k2 cooler. Wondering if its fine to have one of the akasa's, (piranha) on the cooler along with one of the clovers. As the akasa will be in the middle section of the cooler it wont be seen. Ill be running 5 fans in total to start with via the splitter. More when i change cases in a few months time so ill be adding a second splitter and running it from the second cpu fan header.

Ill give it a try tomorrow mate as ill be swapping fans out then. The k2 itself comes supplied with an 1100 and a 1500 rpm fan, (both PWM) though i had them on a cpu fan header each. Im hoping that the 1900 rpm piranha will aid cooling as at 1200 rpm i think the red clover will struggle with what is a pretty hot 4770k. Should be better once i get a second one on the cooler.

Nice un mate, and i see your an enthoo owner, (thanks for your posts in tne enthoo primo thread). As you know im interested in the luxe, but im still a bit wary of it for cable management. Just wish theyd release the special edition primos.

doyll, the enthoo primo sounds perfect for me at the moment. But i dont like the lighting. And wouldnt be very competent at modding it. The primo looks like it has a massive amount of space behind the mobo tray for cable routing. The luxe seems to have less. In my build ill be using some beautifully made pre braided cables in red/white/black, (courtesy of davido labido on here). Theese will add a bit of bulk behind the mobo tray.

My current xl has a supposed 300mm behind the tray, it struggles with that tbh. And as for air flow from the front, there is none whatsoever. When im done with it, it's going in the bin. Wouldnt even envisage selling it. Ill be using theese fans and cables.

Update on this guys, got round to installing the red clover fans. Decided to go with two on the cooler, 2 in the roof and 1 as rear exhaust. The roof and cooler fans are ran via the splitter and the rear fan connected to a mobo header next to the top pcie slot. However, ive hit a snag with the front intakes. As i hadnt enough red clovers, i went with two of the piranhas.

Theese are ran via an akasa 3 fan PWM splitter, but as the cables wouldnt reach ive connected this to a chassis header at the top right of the mobo with a black braided 3 pin extension, but the fans are running full speed all the time. If i gota PWM extension cable would this be fine to use with the splitter connected to the opt cpu fan header. Setup below.

I thought theyd just run like conventional 3 pin fans with bios speed control? The header is 4 pin but maybe not PWM. Extension sounds like a plan, theyre currently connected to the 3 pin splitter, (behind mobo tray in pic). The cable you see at top right is 3 pin on the mobo end, 4 pin where connected to the splitter.

The two intake fans are connected to this and the extension to the chassis fan 2 header at top right. With the PWM extension ill just connect it to the optional cpu fan header. Two of the 5 fan models would add too much bulk behind the mobo tray. Can just about get the side panel on as it is.

Yep, to cut cables down to an absolute minimum, im powering 6 fans, 1 ssd and 1 hdd from a single molex string from my HX 850. The 24 pin atx, braided extension and the pcie cables along with the 5 fan splitter add quite a lot of bulk. Also took out my optical drive, a fan i had in the 5.25 bays and one in the bottom of the case and a fan controller. Hence the case is a lot tidier looking. Temps are actually still pretty good despite the slower cpu fans, (1200 rpm vs 1900 rpm previously).

The red clovers are all currently sitting at 430 rpm, theyre whisper quiet as i unplugged the piranhas to have a listen. I do have a few 1500 rpm lian li 120mm 3 pin fans. But theyre unbraided and dont really push a lot of air. Need the piranhas as theyll ramp up according to cpu temp and provide better airflow when gaming/benching.

Got a few other mods in mind for the case, some type of cover for the front of the hdd bays. And a box to cover the psu with a few holes on top for the pcie extensions, usb and front panel connectors. I want to hide the blue of the unit and the point where the cables go through to the back of the tray. Probably make it from plywood covered with black vinyl wrap.

Seen it on the auction site for much cheaper again. Is it easy enough to glue into box type sections? The reason i looked into plywood is because i have accesss to a lot of it on building sites at work.

Lol, i know the glue you mean mate. As a painter + decorator i see it quite a lot. It is indeed very good stuff, but some joiners i know go a bit over the top with it But at least it's easy to clean off. The site im on at the minute has a large selection of ply, including 5mm birch. Took a few bits home yesterday to try a few ideas.
