Mk1 Focus poor radio reception

My Focus has terrible radio reception, especially if it's raining or it has been wet. I was going to do a resistance test from the stub on the roof to the back of the headunit but I don't know what sort of result I should be expecting. I can't seem to find too many results on google so I was wondering if someone had the same sort of issue? I was going to buy a new aerial but I don't want to spend any more money on the car than I need to.

Ha, hadn't even looked so assumed they would be £20! Will get one ordered, fingers crossed it fixes it.

So the new aerial didn't fix this. I think it's made it better, but not much. If I get time this weekend I will do a resistance test from the cable at the back of the headunit to the stub on the roof.
