Try the VW Vortex forums. There's usually plenty of shots of members motors that turn up in high res, which you can do a bit of photoshopping to, to make a decent wallpaper.

Personally, I've always preferred the looks of the MK1 over the MK2.

Depends on the year for me. The late 70s / early 80's batches with the small rear clusters I prefer over the later 80s models with the larger clusters.
