Quickie I hope someone will know, g/f is at Kwik Fit, apparently the rear brakes are grinding on her '99 1.8 Mk Mondy (discs at the rear). Kwik fit are quoting £180 for rear discs and pads both side.

I'd rather source the bits and do it myself than have her pay that... but my Haynes collection is at home. Before I send her home, anything I need to know as I've not done it on a Mondeo before? (Done several other cars though). Any special procedures for getting the caliper pistons back in for instance?

Actually sounds like you might not need to replace them - are they worn or just grinding? In which case you'd just have to loosen them very slightly. Don't know about Mondeo specifics though.

Dont know how much it helps but I've done front on a Mk1 (rears were drums) and front/back on my current Mk3 - neither had anything odd about them so I'd be surprised if the Mk2 did

I just paid £65 for rear discs and pads for my mk3 st220......yours should be a little less and it's an easy enough job to do

This was OEM spec from a motor factors. (mintex branded)

I had rear discs and pads fitted to the mk3 for about £100 or so. So the place probably charged me an hours labour, parts, and parts markup!
