ABS light came on about 2 months ago, had it checked by VW and they want £140 for a new nearside front ABS sensor. Strapped for cash at the time so didn't get it done but the MOT is due at the start of next month.

Does anyone know if £140 is a fair price?

How much is just the sensor and how easy would it be to fit myself?

The sensor is very easy to fit, its a wheel off job, pull the connecting plug cover from under the arch, unclip the plug, pulling the ABS sensor out of the hub can cause issues, its a very tight fit and usually stuck.

Then you need Vag-Com to clear the ABS fault code.

Haven't looked for a while but i seem to remember a price of £120 - 130 for a front ABS sensor.

Thanks for the advice, part is ordered :)

Don't know why I didn't think of GSF, that's where i've been ordering my Corrado parts from in the past :s

Only issue is the VAG-com, but hopefully the mechanic down the road will be able to clear the error code and get rid of the service reminder as well for a small fee! :)

Thanks

ABS sensor needs picking up from the post office today. Hopefully I can try and fit it later on tonight after work.
