MK4 Golf GT TDi (Key Fob/Sensor problem)

About 3 weeks ago my key fob stopped working, both of them, i didnt think it was the batteries, so i tried the re-sync process described in the manual, but this wasnt exactly clear, i done what it said in the book but it didnt seem to work. So now at the moment I have to unlock manually with the key, quickly get in the car and switch the ignition on before the alarm goes off.

Any ideas how i can get this sorted?

It is unusual for both to stop working at the same that may point to a issue with the control module in the car that receives the signal from the remote. It may be worth changing the remote battery aswell just to rule it out if you haven't already.

You could attempt to recode the keys to the car using vagcom you will need the full version to do it and the SKC code for you car which you can get from the dealer or by another bit of software if you know what you are doing(http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/key-matching.html)

Otherwise I think it will be a trip to a dealer/specialist
