hi guys,

had a EML on today so popped into my local trusted mechanic who after a bit of time on the diagnostics tells me that my DPF fluid is low,

hes advising that this is the fault listed on his equipment and causing the dpf not to regen. now its my understanding that the mk4 mondeo doesnt use a seperate fluid for the DPF.

can anyone clarify whether or not i will have a seperate tank for DPF fluid and if so will a litre of patfluid see me right?

Not sure about the mk4 Mondeo, best have a look on talkford.co.UK which was fordmondeo.org years ago. Some questionable mods done by some members on there, but lots of people who will know!

had a look at talkford but nothing but a few arguments saying yes and some saying no

What year and what engine?

Don't suppose you know the fault code?

I wasn't aware any Mk4 Mondeo's used DPF fluid. I suspect your mechanic is using some generic diagnostic kit and the fault code may mean something subtlely different on your car.

Some diesel engines inject extra fuel in to increase the EGT to help regeneration, it may be this isn't working.

I'd get a forced regeneration done, clear the codes and go from there. If you have further problems get a diesel injection specialist to look at it.

vehicle details

Build Date: 09.11.2010
Vehicle Line: Mondeo 2007-
Body Style: 4 Door Estate
Version: Series 40
Engine: 2.0L Duratorq CR TC (140PS) - DW10C
Transmission: 6 Speed Manual Transaxle - MMT6
Drive: RHD FWD
Emission: Stage V Emissions

my mechanics diagnostic equipment is an all singing all dancing snap on versus so whilst generic its neither cheap or shoddy and I would imagine up to the job, hes rather competent at what he does normally so I've no reason to doubt him other than what I've read on talk ford about there being fluid or no fluid.
