Been looking at mk6 Golfs but now starting to consider a mk7 you seem to get a lot of kit on the new car, got a bit fed up looking for used cars I think I am too fussy. Did not really want to spend new car money but talking myself into it now, have I gone nuts?

Been looking at the 1.4 TSI match trim and above MK6

I'm 41 tommorow - 40 mins away, I don't feel old.

MK7 Golf ? wheres my zimmer frame?

Good grief!!

How about considering a mk5 GTI Edition 30 instead, and then in a few years change to a mk7? If you get a mk7 now you'll lose an awful lot of money in depreciation. You could get an Edition 30 for a lot less money and it would be a much quicker car.

The mk5 and mk6 are almost identical cars so suggesting a mk5 instead of a mk6 isn't a huge leap.

EDIT: Or even a 1.4 TSI mk5.

I'd agree with the above - mk5 or 6 is where I'd go depending on what you want to spend and exactly what you're after. The mk6 is a very very good all rounder, as is the mk5

The standard spec on the mk7 is very good, the SE spec now comes with radar cruise control as standard with the GT spec adding sat nav as standard, the pro sat nav has also ditched the hd for a ssd and looks superb with what appears to be better functionality with a bigger screen than the MMI system from Audi which is surprising.

mk5, 6 and (hopefully) 7 are all good all rounders as stated above. The spec levels of the mk7 are quite impressive though! mk5 R32/GTI (or variant) should also have quite a decent spec as standard. I would assume the mk6 Golf's are in the same boat too?

Delivery time on the Mk7 might be an issue, I understand they start to arrive in Jan but I guess there might be a big waiting list.
