I am trying to watch an MKV file on Windows Media and although I can hear sound, I cant actually hear people talking, or it is very quiet.

Are there codecs that I need to install in order to play?

Thanks!

the CCCP has all the Codecs needed to play matroska files. i don't know if they integrate into WMP, but i find that WMP is decidedly second-rate as far as media players go. Media-player-classic HomeCinema for the glorious win!

CCCP works fine in all flavours of Vista. Normally the first time you play a .MKV file it will ask you what program to open it with, choose Windows Media Player and tell it to remember your choice. Once WMP loads up, you'll get a box saying that it doesn't recognise the extension type, tick the little box then press yes.
