Hi Guys, i currently stream movies from my imac to my ps3, but recently been suffering with HD 720p movies stuttering,

Can anyone help? I think the best way would be to split the mkv file into 2 or 3 parts then move it onto a usb and play it via the samsung media player? can anyone recommend a mkv splitter or even best way around this to stop the stuttering?

Is this over wifi? The PS3 only has 802.11g so it's pretty slow, unless it has direct line of sight and is situated quite close to the router it's going to be quite slow to stream. If this is the case you could get a cheap 802.11n extender and link it to the PS3 via Ethernet, or maybe even power line adapters between the router and the PS3.

Or you could use something like Plex which will downscale quality slightly if it detects the wifi connection is slowing down.
 
Sorry forgot to mention, yes I am also using TP home plugs. I am also on 100 meg broadband with virgin. It's only recently I started getting the stutter with Hd films.

Any ideas guys?
