3 year old ones have now touched 30k, thats some value for money.

I vowed never again with Mercedes but none the less when you think what they were new.

Its my wife she is adamant she wants an ML and i just noticed these are now not a lot more than a ML500, that seems mad value.

There also seems to be more of these about at the 3 year old mark than the other petrols.

Would you want your wife having a 6.2 litre car

The engine impresses me but must say the ML is my least favourite of the premium 4x4's, I've only had a poke round one though - never driven one.

Expensive few months for you on cars Mark - The Bentley, Mini, an ML, didn't your son want a e92 330i as well

My wifes got a few quid of her own so its up to her what she wants really, and me son best start thinking about getting his degree or he's getting nothing :)

Disco, i dont hate Mercs i just had a row with a Merc dealer over a service so i wont buy another, your right though she probably wont appreciate the finer points of that engine, but she dosent do any miles so the running costs dont matter.

The one she has seen is silver with black leather 25k miles on a 2007 car.

Running costs dont matter she does 3k miles a year if that.

An ML430 is a ten year old car! Can't imagine it's what the OP's wife is looking for.

ML500 is a good performer and the AMG is just awesome, the car looks different and inside is completely different.

Thing is there are very few petrol ones about at about 3 years old, most are AMG, and the only 500 that looked any good in the add was only a few grand cheaper than this AMG one.

Buy her a Range Rover and then say 'oops I thought it was an ML'.

She likes them new baby range rovers but whats the point in blowing her brains out 40 grand on one of those brand new when they come out, id rather she got herself this mad thing, im quite warming to this idea now.

I think 3 year old is the perfect point, car is pretty much new still with a massive lump of depreciation taken up by someone else.

What is the difference in re-sale likely to be in a few years? The AMG has obviously lost a lot more to nearly catch up with 500's so is it going to continue to drop in value.

Just thinking in 3 years time when you come to sell/trade in it might not be such a good idea to have the AMG if it's lost even more of its value - equally they might level out and not go below £20k for another 10 years?

She has had her E class for nearly 5 years now, she dont change cars much.

Thinking about it actually the AMG is surely likely to lose much less now than a standard ML.

Any reason for her wanting a supercar 4x4 or just likes the look and why not?

She just likes these ML's any petrol would do her, but having seen the price of these AMG ones now, its rude not to.

There's something to be said for something of that bulk moving so quickly, impressive to watch. The only argument against it now is the "why bother, you'll never use the performance" outlook. I've had this before in relation to the SL55 vs SL500...the difference in acceleration and braking throughout, even if capped at 90mph, is worth every penny. I'd pay the difference for the noise alone.

Im firmly in the why bother camp normally, but a 500 will cost her 25 or 26k and this AMG the man says she can have for 30k for a straight cash deal.

For 4 or 5 grand its got to be worth it for the spec and looks if nothing else surely. Plus her mate with the diesel ML will be gutted :)

I very much doubt you will lose the price difference at the end of the day anyway, I should think as time goes by well cared for ML63's will become a bit sort after.

Sadly this one will soon have a fine selection of parking dents if she gets it, but it will be looked after mechanically :)

I just had a look at dealer prices, couldn't see an 07 less than £36k and 500s are thin on the ground so that looks peachy.

She's on her way with her mate to see it now, i told her give a deposit and arrange for Mercedes to inspect it if it looks good.

Car is Mercedes now, they say it is due a service and needs discs all round, so i will speak to the seller tonight, see if he wants to split the cost of the work.

If he does i think she will have that, she said it looks and drives lovely.

400 odd the service and 1100 quid the discs and pads all round.

Get your wife to ask them to do it, then tell her to pull out at the last moment.

Then you come along (new buyer) and pick it up for the same price with all the work done :D

Now I'm just being a ***** :(

If he will go half each with her, its a good deal, i dont think the bloke is going to kill the deal for that, she said his brand new one was already there, i think he just wants shot of this now.

Dont know why he didnt just part ex it for the new one to be honest.

Going half is only knocking off £700~ for a £30k~ car so I can't see him saying no! Didn't realise it was a private car though, thought it would be a dealer car.

Hes already knocked 3k off it started at 33k, so its not dear at the money we agreed, my wife is hard as nails though, she will cut her nose off to spite her face, which aint always the best move.
