Now if you have wondered why Sony bothered releasing the PS4... well here is your answer, the first real next gen game that begins its journey on the new console.

First iteration remember.... this series is going to blow minds. If you dont like Baseball, you better start... theres no reason not too :D

Best Sports sim available... cleaned up on the PS3 and will do so on the PS4... have no doubt, the boys at SCEA are incredible.

Looking forward to this, have bought the PS3 version for the last 4 years or so but this is looking amazing on the PS4. Roll on May 6.

It'll probably be on the EU PSN store like last year, my guess would be it'll weigh in around the £50-55 mark.

Just like previous years I doubt we'll see a boxed version of the game released in Europe, so I'll be ordering mine from vidoegamesplus in Canada for $60CDN (about £32) plus postage. Used them every year for this and they're very reliable.

Never played one as I have 0 interest in baseball, that said I did enjoy playing some cricket game and I don't like that either. Hopefully there is a demo as I know it's a highly rated series. I guess it might be a bit baffling to those who follow the sport and don't know the best players to sign etc.

Forget this American crap, give us a decent rugby league game. Although this doesn't look bad tbh I might give it a dabble purely because there's not much else available still

This game will help you learn about the sport... you will pick up the rules, get to know who is a good player etc... then maybe take a look at mlb.com and have a read about the real life situation.... wiki some players or teams.... maybe catch the free live game each day on MLB.com or even watch the games on ESPN over here.

I got into it thanks to Channel 5, Jonny Gould and the late night crew... then I got MVP 04 and 05 and from there I grew to learn a lot more and love the game.

MLB The Show has extended that and its really worth having a good look at it, not only does it represent the sport very well, it looks fantastic and is always one of the top if not the best sports game year in, year out.

As crazy as it sounds, this game is a system seller... especially in the US and for me and other Europeans, the PS4 / PS systems are the only way we can get a game with the sport as well due to the region free situation.

Doesn't sound crazy to me because I know just how rated this is over in the US at least. When's the release date?

Well I would expect YOU to talk highly of the game! :D

Edit just to add, that despite having zero interest in the sport, that does actually look very impressive. I am also aware of how highly rated both the sport itself and this game are in the United States. Probably the same level of anticipation to them as a next-gen FIFA is to us.

Little things they implement that other games cant do yet, like saves working in this years game... working in next years game and so on...

For example, say in FIFA once you buy next years... your save of say Be A Pro or Manager Mode (whatever EA call them) wont work. In MLB, your saves carry over and do work, so all the time you put into it this year... its not wasted, as next years version you can pick straight off, with all the game improvements on your old save!

That sort of thing is using Next Gen to its advantage. Plus this year is likely to be more baby steps into Next Gen, even though the graphics are hugely overhauled, stadiums all rebuilt, player models etc etc... new animations and physics. But another year's development, this thing is going to go through the roof.

Try it, try watching the sport... even highlights... as if you do enjoy it and can get into playing video game baseball, you will not regret it :)

I don't get it? could they not get the copyrights to make a real cricket game so they made up their own variation of cricket using a different bat and human as a wicket intresting looks like it might be fun game to play in real life?

Can someone translate this please.

The whole thing, are you asking why they didn't make a cricket game instead? If so I'd imagine the answer is they wanted a game to appeal to more than just mid-upper-class Guardian readers.

Kinda think he's having a go at baseball generally and not this release. Though I could be way off as it's not the easiest thing to read (I'm being kind)!

Edit: And doesn't everyone like cricket? I love cricket :/

I like playing it but you couldn't pay me to watch it :) Love the Brain Lara cricket on PSX though, that was awesome fun.
