mklink and windows 8.1
I run a popcorn hour which accesses all my stuff via a shared folder with mlink created junctions to the stuff on various drives. I've just migrated from windows 7 to 8.1. My origonal setup was a shared folder with mlink'd junctions to each of my stored folders (situated on external drives connected to it) Worked great.
Head scratching now though, basically on my new pc the mlinks work to the folders that are on a local hard drive but the mlinks to the external hard drives don't work. For examply the mlink (as stuff5) works linking to D:/stuff but the mlink (stuff1) to my usb connected elements drive L:\stuff doesn't work from the popcorn (command cannot be proceesed). Yet both work at the PC and also from another pc via the same share on different versions of windows.
Any ideas here? I've been wrestling with it for a day now. Can't think why it would be ok for local drives but not for exteranal. The only difference I can think of is the popcorn works on smb shares and perhaps windows 8 is somehow blocking access to usb attached devices.
