hummm right well ive been experimenting later with some various mmorpgs and well... meh is my conclusion xD

i started off playing ultima online when t2a was released and had so much fun on my 56k connection xD but i was young and couldnt really aford it, i kept it up for about a year and a half only to go back on with a free "come back to see what its like" offer and well since aos it just wasn't the same and the community had changed :( my guild seemed to never be on. i have played on some free to play servers such as uohybrid and had fun on there but with such fast advancement everyone on there is silly rich and has an alt for everything and seems to take the appeal away, mostly the lack of old friends :(

so then when i went you uni the only games i could play on the uni net were mmorpgs, so i gave star wars galaxies a go and was pretty cool, also tried wow and quite enjoyed that but it was a passing fancy.

but alas a year later i made my own wow account and been playing off and on the past 4 years and have made some great friends although i havent been on since about january as i was made redundent and had to watch my spending and was going to wait till cataclysm.

so ive been trying to find some decent free to play games, i downloaded DnD online and it was pretty fun. leveled to level 5 or rank 23 or something or other but it's just lost its appeal pretty quick as everything is instanced and not much free to roam and randomly bump into people.

so today ive tried star wars galaxies trial again... things have changed :\ used to be all auto attack but now its all point and shoot... wtf? seemes to be only about 10% of the people who used to be there. got to level 10 and just seems meh, glitches all over the place so shall probably be deleting it soon. look at free to play servers but you need the full game to play on them... pfffff cba with that!!!

so yea had alook at warhammer but that just seems meh also. so im running out of ideas.

oh yea i did play guild wars, got to lvl 20 really fast and got sooooo bored, that was about 6 years ago i think haha.

any suggestions? want to give star wars the old republic a go but thats not out for about a year probs, and cataclysm is gunn be out in atleast 4 months... shall i just bite the bullet and give wow a months sub or has anyone got any other suggestions? (tho im probably going to give wow the cash as i still have friends and a guild there awaiting my return to blame me for everything that goes wrong during raids xD)

Tough to say, I've got someone nagging me that LoTRO is where it's at, and it's going to be opened up a little with the Free to Play system/limits.

2 other main ones to WoW are currently LOTRO and EVE Online.

I can safely say that Star Trek Online, while entertaining to start, is pretty much useless!

oh yea forgot about lotro... hummm might look into free servers, and i forgot to mention i have been playing eveonline too, it is pretty cool but i just find most of the time there is nothing to really do, spend ages roaming and get nothing, planetary interaction only seems to be decent in low sec but i do it with my rubbish alt so im stuck in high sec and ym main can rat in low sec but it just doesnt make that much money :p

I feel your plight, I ditched EvE online (what a wonderful and complexed game, yet slow and frustrating) after 7 months and cant find anything worth risking my cash on. Neverwinter Nights 2 was great for 2 years (its free to use servers once the game is purchased) but I lost interest and now need some suggestions too.

Launch your own Ultima Server with T2a settings, advertise it and get a following.

tbh, mmorpg wise, there is bugger all out there. I've got LOTRO on the go, bit bored now, been playing eve for 4-5 years, play for 1-2 months = bored.

What exactly didnt u liked about warhammer online cuz I think its an awesome PvP game.

Maybe you should take a look at Aion...there are free server available or Age of Conan ;)

I started on UO T2A myself and doubt there will ever be a game that comes close. That's actually a lie as I played a few MUD's before that. Discworld MUD and another called Austin MUD. I've played/trialed/beta'd most of the big offerings ever since and have been hugely disappointed by 99% of them.

The biggest exception is EVE which I've played on-off since launch and will keep coming back to. Next was COH which I played for a while but ultimately got bored of. The latest is Fallen Earth which I'm very much enjoying but have yet to see whether it will hold my interest long-term.

I have my sights on SW:TOR and Fallout Online (Should it ever be released) but who knows how they'll turn out. Also, I would be interested in Planetside 2 if that should ever come about. I played lamentably little of the first but thoroughly enjoyed it.

In my head it should be easy to make a good and original MMO. Unfortunately few developers seem to have the balls to break the mould.

Well you played Warhammer which sucks and Guild Wars you have to love PvP to be able to play it and enjoy it to it's full.

To be honest there aren't many good MMORPGs out right now, most people are waiting on Guild Wars 2, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic or Final Fantasy XIV

DAoC is dead...

funny

you looked recently?

24/7 action. I'm on something like 500k rps a week. something like 3000 players on most of the time, frenchies are transfering over which just brought like 500, and german transfers are inc "soon", if anything the pops too high right now, from a duo PoV ;)

Gone pretty much in a circle here over the years - SWG, WoW, War, Lotro, Aion, EVE, Fallen Earth, now back playing WoW again after a year and a half break. Actually really enjoying it, apart from finding out my main character was sold off - luckily I had a couple of high levels which were still on another server.

@OP - I say you should just re-sub to WoW, you know you'll do it when Cataclysm comes out (along with huge amounts of other MMO players) so might as well just do it now :)

DAoC is dead...

As pointed out by Afran Daoc isnt exactly dead, in fact populations on Ywain are as high as they used to be when I started Daoc at first release. (even now right at the moment at 8.30am, there are over 1,500 people online). Having said that its probably not the best game for someone to try out now as its not the easiest to get into or come to grips with. Still the best RvR MMO out there imo though.

Global Agenda is fun and buy/free to play now. Mix of TF2 and power rangers :p

APB seems ok, although I haven't really given it much time yet but I can see it doing well.

And of course there is Guild Wars 2 which is out soon and The Old Republic which is out next Spring.

I'm currently playing around with Dungeons & Dragons online - now there is a freeplay in place.
You are limited with regards characters and some missions aren't open to you.
However you can top-up your freeplay account and buy some of the dungeons etc.

As far as MMORPG's go....
I started UO when it was in beta.
US Only servers on a 28.8k connection.....those were the days :)
UO is the original and still the best game I ever played.

I recently had the same problem, i ended booting up wow and continued with an old char i had. Im enjoying it and as the new expantion will come out soon it gives me time to lvl up within this time.

SWTOR **may** be good. But on the whole, forget new MMOs. They all get rushed out now lacking features and polish and get crushed by WoW. WoW and EVE online are the only two worth trying.

My suggestion would be Starcraft 2 - much better game than nearly every MMO, made by Blizzard (so stupidly high production values), pure awesome :p (p.s. find a friend to play with to greatly add to the fun)
