It means that on top of stealing my phone and the pass key they'll also have to chop of my thumb to get into the phone.
From a practical perspective i reckon that makes it secure enough to me.

Why on earth would people put all the banking details on a mobile electronic device is beyond me.
Don't have a clue and don't see the logic in mobile banking, but I do see the danger so its a nope from me.
My phone is encrypted and protected by a PIN. If I lose it or it gets stolen i can remotely wipe it. My banking apps are all also protected by different PINs (and fingerprint where supported). Setting up a new payment recipient also requires entering a 12+ character password.
I don't see how this is any less secure than carrying a bank card with me, or using internet banking from my PC?

If you think your PC is much more secure then you're just being naive.

Halifax is great. It does everything, I *think* the only thing I can't do it set up or delete direct debits but I've never needed it so maybe you can, I don't know.
Agree with this, although personally think their old website is much better than the simplified rubbish of the new one.
I don't know why all the banks don't use fingerprint recognition as security login, a usb fingerprint reader can't be that expensive and a lot of modern mobiles have fingerprint recognition anyway, would save having to remember all those codes and passwords
Only on high end phones, so I guess there is no rush implement it at the moment.
How many codes/passwords do you need to memorise?It's just a PIN to log into the app, and off you go. It's the same as walking up to an ATM, entering your card and PIN, then managing your account, except there are extra layers of security on your phone first.

Lloyds is great, I didn't update it for a while as my previous phone was rooted so wouldn't have been supported. After replacing the handset and then getting the new app I wish I'd done it sooner, it's brilliant!
No ID or long, complex password to type in. Just three characters from my memorable information. I can do absolutely everything from the app except one thing, resolve an issue after security checks cause a new standing order to fail. I've got to use a desktop for that. It's not a massive issue though as I hardly ever do that.

Nationwide and RBS/Natwest use fingerprint login on their mobile banking apps .
I use HSBC mobile app on an iphone and have no real issues with it.
You can check balance, transfare money, pay bills, pepole, shift money between accounts, finger print security, in fact the only thing I do have issue with is I can no longer top up the kids phones (maybe not such a bad thing)
