Anyone here with an iPad that has mobile data that can confirm that it takes a while to get a cell tower signal when you first turn on mobile data if it’s been turned off.

Obviously the iPhone always has a cell signal so turning on mobile data is instant. This is why I’m reaching out to iPad users.

I am, yes. With Sky if that helps?
Strangely it seems to be turning on instantly now. I’m experimenting with turning mobile data on before turning WiFi off. Just goes to show it should turn on instantly. It’s probably something to do with my carrier.

Ah. well at least you seem to have it sorted
Yeah I have turned mobile data on dozens of times with WiFi still on and it’s come on instantly every time. If you think about it why would you need to turn off WiFi in normal use, you’d normally be out of range of WiFi before turning mobile data on anyway.

The only reason why I’m turning WiFi off is to test my mobile data connection. If it happens again I’ll post back here.

Well I walked downstairs out of range of WiFi and then turned mobile data on. It took about a minute to get an LTE connection. If this doesn’t happen to you it must be something to do with my carrier. At the end of the day at least I do eventually get a connection.

Here's a video I made showing what its like turning on Mobile Data whilst WIFI is off/out of range on my iPad. Only took about 30 seconds to come on in this video.
