Why not 1 tech for all, a mobile GPU is just a chip right? Why blow it up to a huge card for desktops? It prob. requires some change, but well you guys get what I am saying right?

Different size/cost/power requirements mean a one size fits all would not work well.

Though a small desktop with a beefy cooled MXM-B slot could be fun.

If I'm honest, not really sure what you're getting at (but I've had 3 ciders watching the rugby, so that may not be helping!).

The majority of the difference between a mobile chip and a desktop chip is to do with heat and power consumption. A desktop chip has a huge heatsink, even a single slot one, compared to the space available in a laptop to cool the GPU. Also, good power consumption is a nice to have on a desktop, but in a laptop it's of huge importance. Short version, it's like comparing a race car designed to run 100 laps on a single tank of fuel with one designed to run a 1/4 mile sprint.
