Im looking for a mid range laptop with a GPU that is capable of running a selection of games such as 4x games, football manager, saints row 3, just cause 2 and knights of the old republic as my main travelling games.

I mainly use this laptop when I travel or if my desktop is down so its not a primary computer.

In an ideal world I would go for a blazingly fast Nvidia card but the cost outweighs the use.

I have narrowed it down to several options
Intel Iris 540 on an intel i5 machine
an Nvidia 940m on an intel i7 machine
an ATI R7 M360 on an i7 machine
and somewhere an ATI R9 M375

I am assuming the 940M is the most capable, but how good is the Iris 540 and the ATIs?

Notebook check has good gen.

R9 M375

R7 M360

NV 940M

Iris 540

NV 940M and R9 M375 look to have similar performance.

I would personally go for the AMD card unless you run Linux, then I would lean to the NV 940M.

Thanks

I will look at some tests

if i were you i would wait a bit, untill mobile versions of the new architectures start showing, it shouldn't be long, AMD will release one based on 460 and another based on 480/470, most likely by the end of july to be ready for back to school season, Nvidia is going to release new mobile versions too but so far they are based on 1080/1070 so my guess the price will be on another league for those.

I'd wait a bit personally. :) or look for a cheap laptop with something like a 680m and flash it, I've got my 680m to 1050mhz and near 5ghz on the memory and matches an overclocked GTX 660 Ti which for a laptop can still do todays games 1080 at medium-high settings :)

My old laptop had an Nvidia 9600M in it. So anything that out performs that without throttling the CPU too much would be good.
