Having been a tp link guy since how long I have been through the trials of trying to maximise speed for when I get big downloads to do.
Hardware :
Samsung Z Flip Phone - capable of 5ghz hotspot // not capable of more than USB 2.0
14700k based pc inc USB 3.0 connectivity.
T2u 433mbps on 5ghz // 200mbps on 2.4ghz
T3u 867mbps on 5ghz // 400mbps on 2.4ghz
Here's the problem :
None of the dongles from TP Link can see a 5ghz connection, even though the latest two I have tried need 5ghz to get the speed they claim to handle. TP link say you need to change the router because "our network cards of EU version do not support the 5G channels 149 and above" - but as far as I can see, we have no control over channels on android phones. I've looked for an app but ended up seeing a load of nonsense.
Surely it is possible to connect to a 5ghz hotspot with some sort of wifi dongle and give my pc the higher speeds for when it's download time ?
Any advice to find a dongle that can do it, would be appreciated.
